I-69 Day in Austin Coming March 1st

February 15, 2017

March 1st is I-69 Day in Austin and the Alliance is accepting reservations from those who wish to participate in the day of meetings with state leaders, lawmakers and agencies heads.

The day’s events will include a workshop session devoted to discussing economic development strategies to leverage transportation efficiencies and visibility provided by proximity to a new interstate highway.

Transportation Commissioner Jeff Austin will lead a panel discussion that will include economic development leaders from Michigan, Indiana and Kentucky who will share experiences in leveraging I-69 for economic development.  I-69 is further along in those states and they have implemented proven strategies that they will share.  There will also be speakers from the Governor’s Office and the Texas Economic Development Council.

I-69 Alliance members are encouraged to bring local economic development and chamber of commerce leaders to participate in the day’s events.

During the lunch hour I-69 Day participants will hear from legislative leaders and from TxDOT Executive Director James Bass.

Representatives of communities along the Interstate 69 route in Texas will spend the afternoon meeting individually with state leaders and lawmakers to stress the need to continue developing I-69 projects.
